Civil registration in Essex Jamme Masjid
Under the terms of the Marriage Act 1949, everyone is planning to have a civil marriage or a religious marriage at the registered building need to “give notice of marriage”.
This means that the person who wants to marry needs to visit the register office in the district in which they have lived for at least the previous seven days and see the Superintendent Registrar. The Superintendent Registrar will take details of their name, age, their marital status etc.

If one of the parties is subject to immigration control, they need to obtain additional documentation BEFORE they can give notice. This may be either a Marriage Visa or a Certificate of Approval issued by the Home office, and it may take some weeks.

To register an Islamic marriage or CIVIL marriages in Essex Jamme Masjid follow these steps-
- Please email us with bride and grooms full details and your preferable date at [email protected] and wait for your confirmation.
- Then contact your local Superintendent Registrar office and inform them about the date and place (ESSEX JAMME MASJID) you would like to register the marriage.
- You have to inform your local Superintendent Registrar office minimum 4 weeks prior to the marriage date.
- Then the register office will inform us and issue a confirmation letter, without this letter we are unable to register a marriage.
- After the marriage we will issue the ISLAMIC marriage and CIVIL marriage certificate.
- Our fees: there are no set fees for the marriage registration but you may donate any amount above £100 for this special occasion.
